Welcome to Yogita Chettri

We are pleased to welcome a much needed publicity officer and ‘spare hand’ to DAS and KAS. Yogita Chettri worked as a volunteer at KAS for many months, and it was apparent to all of us that she was extremely skilled in handling animals. At the camps she worked alongside the staff even when it meant leaving early in the morning and not returning until late at night. She did not mind the grim realities of surgery, and helped prepare dogs and cats for operations. She is also well qualified, completing her Graduation and Masters in Social Work from Loreto College, Calcutta, and Amity University, Noida respectively. She also worked as an intern for several NGO’s in India and for a private firm in the Capital as an HRTrainee for a year and a half.

Yogita says that ‘since my childhood I have had the passion for animals. I was a little girl of 4 years when I got my first kitten whom I loved unconditionally, and I remember vividly the memories we made together have been impossible to forget till date. I had always longed to look after animals who cannot fight for themselves, so I was thrilled to be offered a job at KAS and DAS.

‘I think God was great in showing me the right path and helping me by giving me a chance to serving animals at the Shelter. I had decided to devote my time to working for animals at the Shelter for long, and to my surprise, April was a surprising month for me when I was offered a job to serving the Voiceless at the Shelter.

‘Last, but not the least, Shelter has now become my home and the animals and staff here have become my family, and I am indeed very grateful to our founder, Christine and Jeremy for the offer and for all that they have done for the animals in need.’

Christine Townend,
Founder Trustee.
